Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

THE POSITION
The Shipping Supervisor supports company operations and service standards by ensuring optimal shipping of products and timely delivery of all customer orders.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coordination
Participates in budgetary planning process.
Interfaces with other divisions and operations to ensure timely and accurate receipt of products and adequate stock levels.
Works closely with Logistics Manager and Customer Service Manager to ensure timely delivery of products, while minimizing detention charges, and investigate causes of damage or shortage discrepancies.
Coordinates with Foreman to ensure timely order fulfillment from freezer operations.
Works with all those involved to resolve work order discrepancies, as needed.
Coordinates with maintenance / engineering to conduct preventative maintenance of King's vehicles and equipment.
Communicates with warehouse facility personnel to ensure accuracy, completeness and favorable conditions (e.g., undamaged, correct codes, etc.).
Coordinates daily with relevant personnel regarding production schedules to make sure local orders are satisfied.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and two-way communication with co-workers and other personnel throughout company.
Supervision
Defines and updates job descriptions for direct reports (see below).
Meets regularly with direct reports to set goals and monitor progress toward goals.
Gives ongoing feedback and conducts formal performance evaluations in a timely manner.
Assists direct reports in defining career goals and seeking opportunities for development.
Delivers or provides for training and resources required for direct reports to perform their roles.
Solicits feedback from direct reports on management style and techniques.
Plans, communicates and manages company driver schedules, daily routes and customer deliveries.
Product Delivery and Scheduling
Coordinates pick-up and delivery schedules with customers / vendors.
Delivers product to customers as a relief driver on an as-needed basis.
Inventory Management
Maintains finish product inventories and manages daily inventory.
Monitors monthly cycle count of packaging materials.
Maintains inventory of packaging materials.
Procures packaging supplies as needed. Creates key processes documentation and SOPs.
Quality Control
Works with Customer Service Manager to ensure that all products are shipped with correct coding (lot numbers).
Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) of the shipping department (e.g., trailer maintenance and cleaning).
Reporting
Reports on departmental budget goals (e.g., labor costs) on a periodic basis.
Provides information on shipping timeliness, damage rate and accuracy to Director of Operations.
Provides customer related information to Director of Operations by working with customer service personnel.
Safety and Security
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and coordinates repair.
Secures product load with a King's Hawaiian seal.
Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
Conducts weekly safety meetings.
